Epworth Choir Appoint New Music Director
Woking’s Epworth Choir are delighted to announce the appointment of Matthew Willis as their new Music Director with effect from 1st September 2011.
Matthew graduated in Conducting from the Royal College of Music and, until last year, was Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Keele Bach Choir, a position he held for 10 years. He has also held Guest Conductor positions across the UK and Europe, including working with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, The Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, The City of London Sinfonia and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Matthew has performed in many leading concert venues including the Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican, St John’s Smith Square and the Wigmore Hall, working with some of the world’s leading musicians including Gennady Rozhdestvensky and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. During the last two years, Matthew has worked with Opera Holland Park where he conducted performances of Mozart – Le nozze di Figaro and, more recently, Bizet – Carmen. Future engagements include a Gala concert with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Moscow.
Matthew made his debut with Epworth Choir at their Songs from the Shows concert on Saturday 15th October at ChristChurch, Woking.
