About the Choir
Woking's Epworth Choir has a membership of over 100, attracting singers from West Surrey and North East Hampshire.
The Epworth Choir was founded in 1958 by Walter Deakin who was the conductor for the first 23 years. The purpose of the choir was and still is, "To give and receive enjoyment through music whilst raising money for charitable causes". So far the Epworth Choir has raised over £400,000 for good causes.
Each year, the Epworth Choir perform a spectrum of music ranging from major choral works and carols in Guildford Cathedral to classica / popular music and carols at venues in Woking. The Choir also had the privilege to perform as one of the two stage choirs at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, on two occasions during the last 5 years.
The choir was delighted to appoint Matthew Willis as their new Musical Director in September 2011. Epworth's accompanist and concert soloist is Daniel Hills.
